Business Chinese II

CHIN 437 (3 credits) (3hrs/week)

Thrive in the Chinese business world! CHIN 437 is a continuation of CHIN 435 for heritage students focusing on reading, writing, and presentation skills in business documentation. The course specifically focuses on technical Chinese as used in the workplace. Emphasis on specialized vocabulary and development of communicative competence as relevant to advertising, the stock market and E-commerce.This course corresponds with the ACTFL Advanced-Mid Level Language Proficiency.

Textbook : Close the Deal-Advanced Chinese for Creative and Productive Business

Prerequisite : CHIN 435 or equivalent

Placement interview : required.

Continued Area of Study : Chinese Literature courses. Students can take CHIN 441/443CHIN 445 and CHIN 435/437 concurrently or out of order.

CHIN437 Business Chinese II (Heritage) Sections

Reading, writing, and presentation skills in business documentation, focusing on technical Chinese as used in the workplace. Emphasis on specialized vocabulary and development of communicative competence as relevant to legal and financial documents such as contracts, investments, and insurance. Credit will be granted for only one of CHIN 437 or CHIN 323.
